Simon Berry will soon be chairing a LexisNexis Webinar entitled Resource Management Update which will focus on changes to the Resource Management Act introduced by the Resource Management (Simplifying and Streamlining) Act 2009. This Amendment Act introduced a number of changes to the RMA designed to:

• Improve plan development and change processes
• Streamline processes for proposals of national significance
• Improve resource consent processes to reduce the time involved in applications being determined
• Make it difficult for commercial operators to oppose developments by their trade competitors
• Improve national instruments
• Streamline decision-making processes
• Strengthen compliance by increasing penalties and providing for a wider range of enforcement
• Establish an Environmental Protection Authority.
