Simon Berry acts for Vector Communications in cable project – July 2007 Simon Berry and colleagues have been assisting the team at Vector Communications to obtain the approvals needed from the North Shore City Council to reticulate high speed fibre optic cable on overhead lines as part of the North Shore Urban Fibre Network Project. Approval was needed from the Council, both as the owner of the roads on the North Shore and as consent authority, to place 3.3km of fibre cable on overhead lines enabling an additional six schools to be connected to the North Shore Urban Fibre Network. Council policies favour the undergrounding of such infrastructure but consent was granted on a non-notified basis, on the basis that visual effects will be minor and conditions will ensure that the undergrounding policies are not affected.
